Hello from Home!

Updated: Mar 19, 2020

Hello Royals!

We are officially three days into our e-learning journey. I've created this blog to share a little bit of my heart during this difficult time. I've been thinking about all of you and your families as we prepare for the unknown. I wish I could have given you each one last high-five, fist bump, or hug on your way out the door last Friday, but none of us saw this coming.

Please know that all of the grown-ups from DGS are thinking of you and missing your warm smiles and silliness!

I will be re-posting some of the read-alouds and counseling e-lessons on this blog, as well as our digital SEL challenges, resources for you and your parents, and short thoughts/messages from me about our program. Here is my tentative schedule for posting (either on this blog or on the DGS facebook page) during our time out of school:

Mondays: New SEL Challenge Posted

Tuesdays: Digital Classroom Guidance Lesson for Kindergarten, First, and Second Grades

Wednesdays: Digital Classroom Guidance Lesson for Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades

Thursdays: Read-Aloud and/or Book Review

Fridays: I will post responses / results from our weekly challenge

* I plan to post and re-post other articles and resources throughout each week as well. Thank you for being patient with me as I work to find the best method of staying connected with our DGS community.

In the meantime, try to remind our Royals of our BIST goals for life:

(1) We can make good choices, no matter how we are feeling. Even if we're mad, scared, worried, or excited.

(2) We can be okay, even if those around us are not ok.

(3) We can do things even if we don't want to, or if it is hard.

We are in this together. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything.

I love you, DGS!
